DWDM LiteTM Transponder
DWDM LiteTM Multiplexers

Overview

The new DWDM LiteTM Multi-Channel System provides 4 to 160 DWDM channels of 10 Gbps transmission for local, metro, long haul, or ultra long haul terrestrial or subsea fiber optic links.  Single span distances of up to 200 km are possible without intermediate signal amplification, EDFAs or regeneration (290km with EDFAs).  This DWDM technology can be introduced into a network with a low initial capital outlay.  An excellent product for small and large telecom carriers that have found other vendor’s DWDM systems too costly to acquire, install and maintain.

Features
  • 4, 8, 16, 40, 80, or 160 channel DWDM multiplexer system
  • Simple architecture has two major components,
    passive DWDM LiteTM multiplexers and
    DWDM Lite TunableTM transponders.
  • Self contained transponders allow for easy and economical gradual growth of fiber capacity.
  • Built-in independent channel amplification
  • Tuneable DWDM channels maximizes system flexibility
  • Fully transparent for all standard protocols
  • No equipment changes for 40 to 80 channels and 80 to 160 channel upgrades
  • Forward Error Correction (FEC) option
  • Simple to install, operate and maintain
  • Easily adding or removing channels, channels equalization not required.
  • Individual channel remote monitoring of alarm status and control.
  • High reliability.  This system is more reliable than current conventional DWDM/EDFA systems.  This is because there is no active component single point of failure that affects all channels.  There are no EDFAs that amplify all DWDM signals, and no other single electronic components common to all channels such as power supplies, controller cards, etc.  Our system uses a distributed approach, where each channel is completely self contained and does not effect other channels.

Applications:
      - local, metro, long haul, ultra long haul fiber networks
      - terrestrial and subsea
