TECHNOLOGY WEBINAR

Fiber Characterization for High Speed Transmissions and DWDM/CWDM Networks

Date Scheduled: Wednesday May 21, 2008; Time 12:00 pm EDT, 16:00 GMT/UTC
Duration: 45 minutes
Price: Free
Hosted by: Bob Chomycz, Founder and President
Attendees:  Open to all industry professionals globally

Summary

This webinar will inform attendees about fiber characterization measurements and the results needed to support high speed (greater than 1 Gbps) transmissions and DWDM / CWDM networks.  Discussion will help answer commonly asked questions as follows:
When should fiber characterization be performed?
What tests should be performed?
Why should fiber characterization be performed?
What transmission rate can my fiber cable network support, 1 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps, 10 Gbps, 40 Gbps,
100 Gbps and for what distance?
Will my fiber network support CWDM and/or DWDM systems?
Can optical amplifiers be used to extend my fiber network?
Other questions from attendees will be answered as time permits.

Computer Requirements

This webinar audio and visual content will be delivered entirely over the Internet and can be received globally.  Attendees require access to a computer with Internet connection and working speakers.

Increasing Fiber Capacity Using DWDM and CWDM Technology

Date & Time Scheduled: to be scheduled Summer 2008
Duration: 45 to 60 minutes
Price: Free
Hosted by: Bob Chomycz, Founder and President

Summary

This webinar will inform attendees about how WDM technologies are used to economically increase single or dual fiber capacity to 32+ channels (320 Gb/s) for transmission of any protocol including 10GigE, GigE, SONET, SDH, ATM, etc.  Technologies such as DWDM, CWDM, Cross Band Couplers, Bidirectional Couplers, Optical Amplifiers (EDFAs), and proper laser and pluggables (SFP, XFP, Xenpak, etc) selection will be discussed.  Technology compatibility, limitations, reliability, system designs and pricing will also be discussed.  Questions from attendees will be answered as time permits.  Free estimates will be offered to all attendees that would like their fiber capacity increased.
